Change the Rules

There is an overused cliché that goes something like this, “If you don’t like the game, change the rules.” If you think about it, that’s a pretty powerful message – especially if you apply it to your business.
Starbucks did it with their coffee. It isn’t necessarily extraordinary coffee nor is it the most economical to purchase (probably near the top end of the price scale). Yet Starbucks has created a “coffee phenomenon” in its short existence by making coffee drinking an “experience.” People drink Starbucks in airports, at business meetings, and while browsing a bookstore. It is “chic.”
Starbucks coffee in a different package may just be “another coffee.” But it is in a Starbucks package and people drink it as if it were the best tasting coffee in the world. Starbucks changed the rules for coffee drinking.
Why don’t you change the rules for your business?  Change your package.  Make your service calls an experience for your clients.
